Person seriously injured after tractor crash in Te Awamutu

One person has been seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor on a state highway in Te Awamutu this evening.

Police say emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 3 (Ohaupo Rd), near Te Rahu Rd, around 4.20pm.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager told 1News fire services were called to the scene of a "a single car upside down".

"One occupant was trapped, we extricated them and handed them over to ambulance."

One person was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition, a St John spokesperson told 1News.

The road was blocked but has since reopened.
